Musings at a Yankee Game

I get this really awesome feeling of comfort and contentment when I sit in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium. There aren’t many places where my mind stays put and doesn’t wander to other things, but when I am at a game in the bleachers I just relax and enjoy where I am in a way I don’t really do otherwise.

Lots of Jay-Z fans on the Yankees. The players pick the music that is played when they come to bat. Robinson Cano walks out to D.O.A. (Death of Auto tune), A-Rod enters to Public Service Announcement off the Black Album, and Derek Jeter took every at bat to Empire State of Mind which is so perfect I couldn’t take it. I made little notes of this on my scorecard. Also, Melky Cabrera comes out to that Pitbull song that is everywhere right now.

The French couple a few rows in front on me were awesome. They knew nothing about baseball. Nothing! But they knew the Yankees and how popular the interlocking NY logo is around the world so they decided to check it out. They stayed until the very end and cheered accordingly. Cute.

Roberto Clemente Jr was there. Awesome!

So was the man who designed the very cool (and aging well) MLB logo. Nice!

Some dumbass tried to start the wave in the middle of some very important at-bats last night. Why then? There was nada happening in the 2 previous innings. How about doing that when there isn’t something on the field to watch?. Instead he waited until everyone had something to actually see and then tried to get everyone to do something that requires watching other fans and not watching the game. Duh!

Oh yeah, I get riled up about the wave. Now I remember.

When I say I live a 10-15 minute walk from Yankee Stadium, I am not exaggerating. You know how people always say everything in LA is 20 minutes away, but it’s not? I got home (stadium gate to key in my apt door) in the time it took 2.5 songs to play on my iPod, and yes they were Jay-Z songs.
